Proceeds from the Gala will benefit Catholic Charities of Oregon, SOAR Immigration Legal Services, and Immigration Counseling Service (ICS).
These organizations provide legal representation to low-income immigrants, particularly those who are fleeing persecution or who are victims of serious crimes.

2017 Awardees

AILA Oregon recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the immigrant community in Oregon. This year, AILA will be presenting the following awards:
Richard M. Ginsburg Outstanding Leadership for Immigrants Rights Award:
ACLU of Oregon Legal Director Mat Dos Santos
Gerald H. Robinson Excellence in Advocacy Award, for his accomplishments as an AILA Oregon Chapter member who has demonstrated excellence as an advocate for the rights of immigrants, awarded to:
Michael T. Purcell, Law Offices of Michael T. Purcell
Oregon Immigrant Achievement Award, to recognize and celebrate his accomplishments and has made significant and lasting contributions to the Oregon community, awarded to:
Wajdi Said, President and Co-Founder, Muslim Educational Trust
2017 American Immigration Council Fifth Grade Essay Contest Winner: 5th graders were invited to submit an essay, poem or creative writing piece with the prompt of “Why I am Glad America is a Nation of Immigrants.” The winner is:
